THREE DIMENSIONAL STRENGTH ANALYSIS OF ENTIRE HULL OF A TANKER
This treatise discusses the three-dimensional strength calculation method of the entire ship structure, including the fore and aft parts of the hull...a method, developed by expanding the strength analysis method in tank parts which was already discussed in our previous reports and using SPACE FRAME together. The strength of a 200 thousand DWT tanker was analyzed by this method and the results were examined and were compared with ordinary three-dimensional strength calculations of the ship's tank part structure, and ordinary longitudinal strength calculation of the hull and stresses in the fore and aft parts of the hull were examined. The study has shown that the ordinary three-dimensional strength calculation of the ship's tank part will suffice for the analysis of the structural strength in the vicinity of the midship section but the more sophisticated calculation, with consideration to the fore and aft hull structures as by the expanded three-dimensional method of strength calculation, will be required when dealing with the structural strength analysis around the both ends of the ship tank part and fore and aft part structures.
