Accessibility analysis at a neighbourhood level

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the applications of the ARRB Accessibility Metric or AAM to planning at a neighbourhood level. The AAM incorporates transport cost and opportunities at the end of the trip to quantify an accessibility score. A neighbourhood area comprising the suburbs of Kinross, Currambine and Joondalup in the City of Joondalup, was analysed using the AAM. The accessibility profile of the study areas was examined. The potential benefits of accessibility planning at the neighbourhood level were demonstrated. The analysis covered work, education, shopping and recreation trip purposes. It included accessibility by three modes including public transport, cycling and walking.
