Pan Am in the Air and on the Rails: Historic Transportation Trademarks Are Valuable Intellectual Property Assets
This paper will discuss a recent example of a trademark from a now-defunct airline that was shown to continue to have significant value because of its familiarity around the world and because of the style of travel that it represents. This paper will also recap a number of additional railway trademark examples that may have similar value. Finally the authors will examine some examples of how railroads are defending their intellectual property rights in court.
