M/W Practices Developed Abroad
This article describes how track maintenance practices in North America have undergone major changes over the past two decades. The article shows how North America has had its share of maintenance practice exports, but innovative track maintenance methods are being developed and put in practice in other parts of the world. The article highlights four of the methods, which began abroad and may be making an appearance on North American railroads in the near future. The first is the use of formation rehabilitation machines. The second is the use of high-speed grinding. The third is the use of rail milling and the fourth is the stoneblower method.
