ENGINEERING ASPECTS OF CONTRA-ROTATING PROPULSION SYSTEMS FOR SEAGOING MERCHANT SHIPS
About two years ago the author of this paper went out on a Travelling Scholarship, sponsored by Lloyd's Register of Shipping. The intention was to collect as much information on the matter of contra-rotating propulsion as possible. The paper presented herewith gives some of the results obtained during this time and expresses the author's personal opinion in all points.
