SHIPBOARD WASTE TREATMENT SYSTEMS
A new complete system for the treatment of fluid and solid waste on board ship has been developed and is being included on all new buildings of two Copenhagen-based shipping companies. The system has two main components, one unit for the treatment of all waste water, and the other unit for the incineration of oil sludge, sewage sludge from the waste water unit, and oily water from the oily water separator. The effluent that comes out of the system is purified to such an extent that it complies with the anticipated international standards for waste water discharged from ships.
