Material Testing Rates for Low-Volume Roads
This project updated the Schedule of Materials Control (SMC) for the State Aid to Local Transportation (SALT) division of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). Feedback through an online survey was solicited from a broad spectrum of MnDOT field inspectors, MnDOT project engineers and local contractors. A total of 97 individuals responded to the survey. The MnDOT Office of Audit’s annual audit of compliance with specific single audit compliance requirements for the year ended June 30, 2009 was reviewed for an estimate of the financial impact of the SALT SMC. Pass/fail rates and costs of testing for several common material items were reviewed for risk analysis. The information was incorporated into a revised SALT SMC.
