Towards an improvement in traffic assignment techniques

This paper presents and comments on a tabulation of current Australian traffic assignment programmes. The relationship between task class and programme type is discussed and some conceptual insights into areas for improvement of traffic assignment techniques are given. These insights include the fitting of a time base to the traffic assignment model and the development of a macro micro model which should allow detailed examination of specific areas.
