The location, investigation and design of a low cost road in New Britain
This paper briefly describes the investigations and design carried out in connection with a lightly trafficked developmental road of about fifty miles in length which is to be constructed through dense rain forest between talasea and cape hoskins in New Britain. In its first stage the road will be of relatively low standard by mainland conditions, but its grading, alignment and bridge structures will be such as to enable later improvement when the traffic warrants it (A).
