An analysis of the following papers is presented: the use of a mathematical description of vehicle performance to determine overtaking times and distances (andreassend=dc); the application of some standard computer programmes to the geometric design of roads (cogill=wh); line marking to restrict overtaking on curves (turner=jc); the effect of glare from street lighting lanterns on the visibility of objects for drivers of different ages (christie=aw and fisher=aj).
