Recovery and testing of bitumen from bituminous concretes: a method for studying binder hardening in asphalt roads
In the method described here bitumen extracted with carbon disulphide from a very small sample of asphalt is deposited by controlled evaporation directly on the surface of a glass viscometer plate. The consistency is assessed by shearing the film so formed between glass plates in a micro viscometer. Typical results are shown (A).
