An assessment of the quality of andesitic aggregate from the waitakere ranges
Aggregates complying with the normal physical test requirements on quarrying showed on subsequent construction work that plasticity was the cause of shear failure. Field geology and petrography have been used as an aid to assess the quality of the rock. Plasticity can be an inherent property of rock due to the presence of sheet structure minerals such as chlorite (A).
