Transport and land use determinants of urban structure

In this chapter a discussion is presented of the way in which activity patterns influence urban structure. The emphasis is placed on means of conceptualising transport and land use within a general equilibrium context. The centralised general equilibrium models are taken as a point of departure, and the key relationship between accessibility and rents or location premiums are illustrated in the context of this class of conceptual models.
