Cost benefit analysis

Cost benefit analysis (cba) originated as a technique for guiding resource allocation in a number of different fields, after being used in the appraisal of water resource projects, gradually spread to transport, health, education and other areas. In this chapter some of the issues concerning the valuation of costs and benefits are discussed. A number of important points of cba are outlined here.
