Temperature conditions in bituminous concrete pavements at a site near Canberra during a period of eleven months
The temperatures at different depths in a 50 mm and a 250 mm deep bituminous concrete layer have been recorded over a period of 11 months at a test site near Canberra. The recorded data were analysed for seasonal and daily variation of temperature and, in some cases, results are compared with those obtained for the Sydney and Brisbane sites previously reported. Bituminous pavement temperatures at Canberra (lat 35 s, altitude 600 m and sited inland) are more extreme than those encountered at the other capital city sites which have been monitored. A lower level of temperature is maintained in the winter period which persists for about a quarter of the year.
