Human performance - effect on traffic system design

This section introduces the human factor, and emphasises the importance of a knowledge of driver behaviour and human performance as they relate to traffic system design. The information needs of drivers and the decision making task are reviewed and a series of guidelines for use by the traffic designers are outlined and presented.
