Metropolitan Bayside Councils corridor traffic study; task 4 - residential area traffic management trial: Brighton - interim report
This is Transport (Planning and Research) Act Final Report VMOT/RO/77/1. In the consideration of road classification procedures, it is just as important to work from the local area up to the arterial road system as it is to achieve consistency in the arterial road network and then work down to the local area. The purpose in selecting a trial local traffic area was to provide an opportunity to work through some of the practical issues at this level in the road classification. In the context of the study, the intention has been to select an area for investigation and recommend a framework whereby municipal authorities can initiate traffic management changes as a follow on from this study. For that reason this report is labelled as "interim". Brighton Council has endorsed the selection of the area and the aim of modifying traffic behaviour to produce gains in safety and amenity.
