Cyclic loading of reinforced concrete tee joints
This paper describes the testing of conventional reinforced concrete tee joint details under static and cyclic load programmes. The cyclic loading was chosen to simulate the forces acting on a joint when it forms part of a structure subject to cyclonic wind gusts. The tests show clearly the poor performance of badly detailed joints. However, good conventional detailing gave joints that performed well under test providing bond lengths began at the bend in the bar (a).
