The cost of present and future emission controls on Australian cars
This paper examines the costs associated with various approaches to meeting present and future emission requirements for petrol engined cars in Australia. It also analyses the costs associated with owning diesel powered cars. These costs are assessed from two points of view. The first is the viewpoint of Australian car owners. The second is the viewpoint of the nation as a whole. Costs are presented on annual basis and a base case of no emission controls is used for comparison.
