Surfacings workshop overview
This paper introduces the work of three AUSTROADS working groups concerned with projects on polymer modified binders, emulsion binders, and the design of sprayed seals. The projects have been progressed quickly and a number of specification and guidelines for use documents prepared for review. The work has been a cooperative effort involving industry, the Australian Road Research Board and road authorities (through AUSTROADS). Review of the documents by users and collection of field performance data over a period of time are essential elements in the overall process of developing accurate specifications and user guidelines.
