THE REINJECTABLE IRP ANCHORING ROD FOR LOOSE KARST SOIL OR SOIL WITH WEAK GEOTECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS /IN FRENCH/

THE IRP ROD USES A PATENTED PRESTRESSED DRILED ANCHORAGE SYSTEM WHICH CAN BE TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT. THE SYSTEM ENABLES: (1) THE PRELIMINARY CONSOLIDATION OF THE ANCHORAGE SOIL TO BE CARRIED OUT THROUGH THE ROD BY MEANS OF REPEATED LOCAL INJECTIONS OVER THE ENTIRE HEIGHT OF THE ANCHORAGE; THIS OPERATION CAN BE DONE AS MANY TIMES AS NEEDED AND EVEN SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER THE ANCHORING ROD HAS BEEN PUT PERMANENTLY INTO SERVICE; (2) THE PRESTRESSING REINFORCEMENT TO BE SEALED; THIS REINFORCEMENT MUST BE SELECTED TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE NATURAL OR IMPROVED MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ANCHORAGE SOIL; (3) THE FINE CRACKS WHICH SOMETIMES APPERAR IN THE SEALED PART DURING PRESTRESSING TO BE INJECTED WITH A VIEW TO PREVENTING POSSIBLE WATER SEEPAGE WHICH WOULD LEAD TO CORROSION OF THE STEEL; AND (4) THE STEEL IN THE FREE SECTION OF THE ANCHORAGE SYSTEM TO BE PROTECTED AGAINST CORROSION AFTER ITS FINAL POSITIONING. THE IRP SYSTEM CAN BE USED WITH ANY TYPE OF REINFORCEMENT (BARS, WIRES, STRANDS, ETC.) AND WITH ANY TYPE OF EXISTING PRESTRESSING. IN THE CASE OF TEMPORARY RODS, THE LATTER CAN BE EXTRACTED. /TRRL/
