Future ALF trials and possible future directions of ALF program
This paper briefly summarises the aims of the next two ALF trials, to be held near Brewarrina, New South Wales, and at Beerburrum, Queensland. The main purpose of the first trial is to examine the performance of low cost pavements subjected to seasonal flooding, particularly geotextile seal pavements placed directly onto the prepared black clay subgrade. In 1992, ALF will return to Queensland for an extensive evaluation of crushed rock specifications, the effects of adopting higher compaction standards on performance, the performance of a fine-grained marginal pavement material, and the influence of bitumen and bitumen/cement emulsion stabilisation on performance. Possible avenues for co-operative research with OECD and Transit New Zealand are also discussed (A).
