NEW FLAT SECTION SHOP RAISES OUTPUT AT ARENDAL

Gotaverkens Arendal Shipyard has inaugurated a completely new assembly shop which has considerably raised output at the yard. The highly mechanized shop, which is for flat sections, is part of the reorganization in conjunction with the building of the 227s at Arendal. Specialization has been taken to a high degree and all heavy work has been mechanized. The combination of single-side welding, which is a basic feature in the planning of the shop, and advanced mechanization probably makes Arendals flat-section shop unique at the present.
