PLASTIC DEFORMATION KINETICS DURING THE AUTOMATIC WELDING OF MILD STEEL PLATES
This article attempts to estimate the approximate residual plastic deformations in automatically welded plate joints by inference from the kinetics of welding stress development. The longitudinal plastic strains are negative and attain their maximum absolute values at the instant of maximum heating; in the zone of renewed plastic deformation during cooling their absolute magnitude decreases.
