WA experiences with alternative fuels
The state energy commission operates a sizeable vehicle fleet and carries out tests to evaluate the possibility of reducing operating charges by using alternative fuels. Fuels tested to date have been lpg (liquified petroleum gas), cng (compressed natural gas), gasohol, and battery electricity. Vegetable oils have been tested in stationary engines. The necessary vehicle modifications and operating experience using each fuel are discussed.
