PROPOSAL FOR THE EXPANSION OF RESISTANCE WELDING IN SHIPBUILDING

VORSCHLAG ZUR ERWEITERUNG DES WIDERSTANDSSCHWEISSENS IN SCHIFFBAU

In order to eliminate the disadvantage of unsound welded joints subject to crevice corrosion in shipbuilding, spot welding-bonding is proposed. After indicating the range of application of this method, the modifications required of structural parts are suggested, and the requirements to be met by the bonding operator and a suitable spot welding installation are described. The economy of the new process is pointed out.
