WAVES GENERATED BY HORIZONTAL MOTION OF A WALL
An experimental investigation of the characteristics of surface waves generated by the time dependent horizontal motion of a vertical wall in water was made, and the results compared with the numerical solutions obtained by E. Noda using linear theory. The comparison of linear theory with the experimental data show the theory can be useful for nonlinear waves at small distances from the wall.
