Two contentions related to conceptual context in behavioral travel modeling
This section addresses two issues of direct relevance to choice modelling. They are (1) whether the parameters should be fixed or random and (2) the definition of the alternatives in a choice set. It is concluded that (1) random coefficient choice modelling provides important insights into the appropriateness of the convenient fixed coefficient assumption and (2) more attention should be devoted to the definition of alternatives (a).
