Survey of articulate airborne lead at two Melbourne kindergartens

This article reports on a survey conducted as part of a larger survey by the Social Services Department of the Melbourne City Council. There were three sites tested for airborne lead: 2 at kindergartens in inner city areas and one at site within the central business district. A comparison of the levels of lead in air at the three sites tested with the proposed Victorian ambient air quality objective showed that the objective was exceeded for four out of nine months at site a, for two out of eight months at site b, and none of the time at site c. If the comparison was made with the less stringent United States national ambient air quality standard for lead, the standard would have been exceeded for both the calendar quarters at site a and none of the time at sites b and c.
