FINDING OPTIMUM SOIL COMPACTION CONDITIONS
A NEW METHOD IS PRESENTED FOR QUICKLY DETERMINING THE OPTIMUM COMPACTION CONDITIONS IN SOILS IN EARTHWORKS. THE CLASSICAL CONCEPT OF OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT WAS REPLACED BY THAT OF OPTIMUM COMPACTION RESISTIVITY MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN THOROUGH SIMPLIFICATIONS IN CURRENT METHODS FOR THE STUDY AND CONTROL OF SOIL COMPACTION. THE OPTIMUM COMPACTION RESISTIVITY IS OBTAINED FROM THE SATURATION RESISTIVITY OF THE SOIL, THAT IS EXPERIMENTALLY DETERMINED INSITU. THE METHOD PRESENTED HAS ADVANTAGES SUCH AS THE ACCURACY OF RESULTS, THE SIMPLICITY AND QUICKNESS WITH WHICH IT CAN BE PERFORMED AND THE LOW COST OF THE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED.
