USE OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY IN LOCATION OF GRANULAR MATERIAL
AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE PROVED TO BE ONE OF THE MOST RELIABLE, ECONOMICAL AND FASTEST KNOWN METHODS OF LOCATING GRANULAR MATERIALS. THE IDENTIFICATION OF GRANULAR DEPOSITS FROM AIR PHOTOS IS BASED ON PROPER EVALUATION OF LAND FORMS AND IDENTIFYING CHARACTERISTICS. THE LAND FORMS AND THEIR IDENTIFYING FEATURES DISCUSSED ARE: (1) DRAINAGE PATTERN, (2) GULLY ANALYSIS, (3) TONE, (4) VEGETATION, (5) GEOLOGY, AND (6) FLOOD PLAINS. SEVEN AREAS WERE SELECTED FOR FIELD INVESTIGATION OF GRAVEL DEPOSITS. AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS AND FIELD EXPLORATIONS REQUIRE ONLY TWO DAYS TO FIND THE GRANULAR MATERIALS DESIRED.
