GEOTECHNICAL EXPLORATION FOR INVESTIGATING THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SUBSOIL LAYERS IS PRESENTLY RECOGNIZED AS IMPORTANT FOR DESIGNING BRIDGES, RETAINING WALLS, LARGE EMBANKMENTS, ETC., SINCE THE FOUNDATION GROUND MAY DETERMINE THE TYPE OF STRUCTURAL SOLUTION TO BE ADOPTED. MUST BE INVESTIGATED IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE A GOOD DESIGN AND A WELL CONSTRUCTED AND FINISHED WORK. AMONG THE METHODS OF GEOTECHNICAL EXPLORATION BY SIMPLE INVESTIGATION, THE AUTHOR PROPOSES THE METHOD OF PERCUSSION AND WASHING WITH THE REMOVAL OF STAINED SAMPLES AND DETERMINATION OF INDEXES OF RESISTANCE TO PENETRATION. /LNEC/RRL/
