Economic analysis of transportation expenditures: a literature review

This report presents a literature survey of some of the most pertinent concepts in the field of economic analysis of transportation expenditures and investments. Eight major topical categories are reviewed and summarized. These are: (1) Benefit-Cost Analysis; (2) Internal Rate of Return and Rate of Return Analysis; (3) Discount Rate and Opportunity Cost Analysis; (4) Macroeconomic Model Analysis; (5) Plant Location Decision Making; (6) Land Use Impact Analysis; (7) Input-Output Analysis; and (8) Regional Impact or Multiplier Analysis (A).
