SAMPLING OF MINERALS - THE CONCEPT OF HETEROGENEITY
THE CONCEPT OF HEREROGENEITY IS FUNDAMENTAL IN THE THEORY OF SAMPLING. HETEROGENEITY AND SCALE OF OBSERVATION, CONSTITUTION, DISTRIBUTION AND CHARACTER ARE DISCUSSED. A MATHEMATICAL DEFINITION OF HETEROGENEITY, THE DISTRIBUTION OF FRAGMENTS HAVING EQUAL AND NON-EQUAL PROBABILITY, THE GROUPING FACTOR, SEGREGATION WHIRLS, UNIFORM AND ANARCHIC SEGREGATION AND TYPES OF SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION ARE GIVEN.
