TEST OF TRIAXIAL COMPRESSION OF SINGLE AND DIAMETRICAL COMPRESSIONS AND CBR TESTS ON A VERY CHALKY SILT STABILIZED WITH CEMENT
AN INVESTIGATION WAS MADE ON A VERY CALCAREOUS SILT STABILIZED WITH VARIOUS PERCENTAGES OF CEMENT, MOISTURE CONTENT BEING ALSO VARIED. ON EACH COMPOSITION THE FOLLOWING TESTS WERE MADE: TRIAXIAL COMPRESSION, UNCONFINED COMPRESSION, DIAMETRICAL COMPRESSION (BRAZILIAN TEST), AND CBR. THE SCOPES OF THIS INVESTIGATION WERE THE FOLLOWING: (1) VARIATION OF THE COHESION AND THE ANGLE OF INTERNAL FRICTION VS. THE MOISTURE AND CEMENT CONTENTS, (2) POSSIBILITY OF FAST DETERMINATION OF THE COHESION AND ANGLE OF INTERNAL FRICTION FROM RESULTS OF TESTS MADE BY UNCONFINED COMPRESSION AND BY DIAMETRICAL COMPRESSION, AND (3) STUDY OF THE RELATION BETWEEN THE CBR AND THE UNCONFINED COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH.
