AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE DETERIORATION OF A SECTION OF SOIL-CEMENT ROAD AT WISBECH
DETAILS OF AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE PARTIAL FAILURE OF A SOIL-CEMENT ROAD AT WISBECH AREA PRESENTED. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT FAILURE IN THE TOP OF THE SOIL-CEMENT SLAB WAS DUE TO SEGREGATION OF THE SOIL AND CEMENT DURING MIXING WHICH RESULTED IN A LOWER CEMENT CONTENT IN THE TOP OF THE SLAB THAN IN THE BOTTOM. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE WHICH, IT IS THOUGHT, WILL PREVENT SIMILAR OCCURRENCES IN THE FUTURE.
