DETAILS OF LABORATORY TESTS MADE ON A SAMPLE OF FROST-SUSCEPTIBLE CHALK FROM CARSHALTON, SURREY, ARE PRESENTED. THE RESULTS OF THESE TESTS INDICATE THAT THE SOIL CAN BE STABILIZED WITH ORDINARY PORTLAND CEMENT, AND THAT AFTER STABILIZATION THE CHALK IS NO LONGER AFFECTED BY FROST OR MOISTURE CHANGES.
