IN-SITU DETERMINATION OF MOISTURE CONTENT BY MEANS OF A TWO- ELECTRODE CELL /IN PORTUGUESE/
THE IN-SITU DETERMINATION OF THE MOISTURE CONTENT OF SOILS HAS BEEN STUDIED FOR SEVERAL YEARS IN THE LNEC AND SOME METHODS HAVE ALREADY BEEN TESTED. RESULTS ARE PRESENTED WHICH WERE OBTAINED BY AN ELECTRICAL METHOD BASED ON THE VARIATION IN SOIL CONDUCTIVITY WITH THE MOISTURE CONTENT: A TWO-ELECTRODE A. C. 8KHZ FREQUENCY CELL WAS USED. THE INTENSITY OF THE CURRENT THROUGH THE WET SOIL AT A CONSTANT VOLTAGE OF 9V WAS MEASURED. SOIL CALIBRATION TESTS AND LABORATORY AND FIELD EXPERIMENTS WERE CARRIED OUT FOR WHICH THE TEST PIT OF THE LNEC'S DIVISION OF ROADS AND AIRPORTS WAS USED. THE TWO-ELECTRODE CELL AND ITS ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT WERE DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED BY THE LNEC'S DIVISION OF INSTRUMENT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION. /TRRL/
