OVERTOPPING OF RUBBLE-MOUND BREAKWATER WITH CURTAIN-WALL. EXPERIMENTAL STUDY
QUEBRA-MARES DE ESTRUTURA MISTA. ESTUDO EXPERIMENT DE GALGAMENTOS
First results of systematic tests applied to the design of curtain-wall rubble-mound breakwaters, are presented. The tests were performed in a wave tank, the model structure resting on horizontal bed. Tests were made on vertical walls and curved walls with three different shapes. The results were translated into nondimensional relations, valid for each type of wall and for each slope, and independent from depth. The results show that the behavior of profiles with 2 on 1 slopes does not differ much from that of profiles with 5 on 4 slopes.
