PUBLIC PASSENGERS TRANSPORT SERVICE LEVELS IN AUSTRALIAN CITIES
THE NEED FOR A MEANINGFUL MEASURE OF THE LEVEL OF SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT AUTHORITIES IN URBAN AREAS IS DISCUSSED. THE INCOMPLETENESS OF RECORDS OF THE DEMAND FOR PASSENGER TRANSPORT IS NOTED AND ESTIMATES FOR THE DEMAND ARE MADE. THE RELATION BETWEEN POPULATION SIZE AND THE SERVICE PROVIDED PER HEAD OF POPULATION IS STUDIED. AN ATTEMPT IS MADE TO RELATE THE ESTIMATED PUBLIC TRANSPORT DEMAND PER UNIT POPULATION TO POPULATION SIZE. THE RELATION BETWEEN DEMAND AND SUPPLY RATES, AND POPULATION IS ALSO EXAMINED. /A/TRRL/
