DUAL-PISTON CYLINDER PIONEERS SHIP CONCEPT
Special hydraulic cylinder described develops five million pounds force to latch ocean-going tug-barge combination. It is shown how a hydraulic cylinder-within-a-cylinder provides the solution for a latching mechanism for a new and unusual ocean-going tug-barge. Except that it pushes the barge, the tug acts like the tractor of a tractor-trailer-rig; it can be latched to a barge, unlatched at a port, and then latched to another barge and continue its voyage.
