FREEWAY IMPACT IN MILWAUKEE
THE REPORT EXAMINES THE MOVEMENT OF 1,636 HOUSEHOLDS FROM THREE MILWAUKEE FREEWAY CORRIDORS SINCE 1960 AND COMPUTER-PLOTS THEIR MOVES TO OTHER AREAS IN THE MILWAUKEE SMSA. 19 MAPS SHOWING THE DISPERSAL OF HOUSEHOLDS OVER TIME ARE PRESENTED. IT IS QUESTIONED WHETHER DIFFERENCES IN DISTANCE OF MOVES IS ASSOCIATED WITH RACE. MOVES OF A SAMPLE OF DISPLACED BUSINESSES ARE FOLLOWED. A SURVEY FORMAT IS PRESENTED AND A MATHEMATICAL FREEWAY IMPACT MODEL AS FRAMEWORK FOR FURTHER STUDY IS PROPOSED. THE MODEL OUTPUTS CHANGES IN DISTRIBUTIONS OF HOUSEHOLDS AND BUSINESS TYPES OVER TIME BY AREAS, THE EFFECT OF THE CHANGES ON AREAS, AND RESIDENT SATISFACTION MEASUREMENTS. /AUTHOR/
