DISTRIBUTED PARAMETER CONTROL OF TORSIONAL BENDING IN SEAGOING SHIPS
For the torsion control problem, on-line distributed parameter state estimation procedures are derived. The state of the distributed parameter system may be determined on-line to within a known degree of accuracy from a simple strain measurement at one location. The techniques established a rationale for the optimal specification of the transducer location, which, inherently, is selected in accordance with both observability criteria and the physics of the hyperbolic spatial media.
