ACCELERATION NOISE AND TRAFFIC CONGESTION
THIS PAPER DISCUSSES BRIEFLY ACCELERATION NOISE AND TRAFFIC CONGESTION, AND INCLUDES A SUMMARY OF SEVERAL MEASUREMENTS OF CONGESTION (OR THE RELATED QUALITY OF TRAFFIC FLOW) THAT HAVE BEEN PROPOSED FROM TIME TO TIME. IT THEN REPORTS THE RESULTS OF SOME LIMITED TESTS CARRIED OUT ON VARIOUS ROADS IN VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA. ACCELERATION NOISE AND A RELATED PARAMETER (THE MEAN VELOCITY GRADIENT) ARE COMPARED WITH TRAVEL TIME IN AN ATTEMPT TO ASSESS THEIR VALUE AS MEASURES OF TRAFFIC CONGESTION. /AUTHOR/
