THE EFFECT OF THE DIRECTIONAL DISTRIBUTION ON THE CAPACITY OF TWO-LANE TWO-WAY ROADS
AN ANALYSIS IS MADE OF THE EFFECT THAT THE DIRECTIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF TRAFFIC HAS ON THE POSSIBLE CAPACITY OF A TWO-LANE TWO-WAY ROAD, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE FLOW IN THE MAJOR DIRECTION IS SUBSTANTIALLY GREATER THAN IN THE MINOR DIRECTION. IN ADDITION, AN ANALYSIS IS MADE OF THE DATA OBTAINED TO DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT DIRECTIONAL DISTRIBUTIONS OF TRAFFIC ON SPEED DISTRIBUTIONS AND OVERTAKING CHARACTERISTICS OF TRAFFIC ON THE STRAIGHT LEVEL STRETCH OF ROAD. /AUTHOR/
