OPTIMUM SOLUTION FOR POWER SUPPLY PROBLEMS WITH DECK CRANES

STROMZUFUEHRUNG FUER BORDKRANE OPTIMAL GELOEST

A new type of ship, the self-loading and discharging bulk carrier, has recently been developed. The successful operation of this type of ship is due to its equipment with traversing deck cranes on long-travel portals. The power supply problems involved are discussed. A number of service-proven electric-motor-powered reel designs are suggested as solutions.
