RADIO KNOW-HOW HELPS ARCOLE MIDWEST KEEP EXPRESSWAY RUNNING ON TIME
THE ARCOLE MIDWEST CORPORATION IS UTILIZING MOBILE, TWO- WAY, FM RADIOS TO COORDINATE MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES ALONG CHICAGO'S EXPRESSWAY SYSTEM, FOR WHICH THE COMPANY HAS A CONTRACT TO RESURFACE 28 MILES IN 104 DAYS. IN ADDITION TO A CENTRALLY LOCATED GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT AND AUTO-BASED FOREMEN FOR EACH OF THE TWO 10-HOUR SHIFTS THAT WORK SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, THE SYSTEM IS BEING USED BY SHIFT SUPERINTENDENTS, ASPHALT AND CONCRETE SUPERINTENDENTS, AND AN ASSORTMENT OF FOREMEN AND WORKERS. THE FIELD RADIOS HAVE PROVED RELIABLE UNDER ALL WORKING CONDITIONS. A COMPANY VICE-PRESIDENT SAID THAT ARCOLE COULD NOT OFFER SUCH FAST, HIGH-QUALITY SERVICE WITHOUT RADIO COMMUNICATIONS, IN WHOSE USE IT NOW HAS 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE.
