AN ELEMENTARY STOCHASTIC MODEL OF LANE-CHANGING ON A MULTILANE HIGHWAY
LANE-CHANGING ON A MULTILANE HIGHWAY MAY BE TREATED CONVENIENTLY AS A STOCHASTIC PHENOMENON. THIS PAPER DESCRIBES AN ELEMENTARY STOCHASTIC MODEL OF LANE-CHANGING BEHAVIOR, BASED ON ITS INTERPRETATION AS A HOMOGENEOUS MARKOV CHAIN. THE MODEL IS CALIBRATED USING DATA COLLECTED ON A SECTION OF 6-LANE FREEWAY IN CHICAGO. /AUTHOR/
