CROSS-OVER MIRROR STANDARDS NEEDED FOR SCHOOL BUSES
THE NEW YORK STATE LAW THAT, SINCE JANUARY 1, 1966, HAS REQUIRED FRONT-ENGINE SCHOOL BUSES TO BE EQUIPPED WITH CROSS-OVER MIRRORS (CONVEX MIRRORS PLACED SO DRIVER HAS A VIEW OF AREA RIGHT IN FRONT OF BUS) HAS PROVED INADEQUATE. PRESENT REQUIREMENTS AND INSTALLATIONS ARE DISCUSSED AND RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE FOR AN EFFECTIVE STANDARIZATION FOR MIRROR SIZE, PLACEMENT, FIELD OF VIEW, ETC. AND CONSIDERATION TOWARDS EXTENDING REQUIREMENT TO ALL BUSES.
