RESEARCHES ON FIBERGLASS REINFORCED PLASTIC SHIPS
Research on FRP ( fiberglass reinforced plastic ) ships in Japan is reviewed. Major topics covered are--research on materials ( reinforcement, resins, stiffeners and sandwich cores ) and laminates; establishment of standards; trial manufacture and study of high speed motorboat, fishing and utility boats, research on hull form, structural design, strength calculation standards and method of molding, and basic research on FRP ship structure.
